Women’s Health Services—Other Services

Diagnostic Imaging - Mammography

During the course of an examination, your doctor may request that you have diagnostic imaging performed. These procedures are simple and painless. You’ll find that we’ve created an environment for your comfort, privacy and convenience. You may have the exams on either an outpatient or inpatient basis. And our center has extended hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., to make it easier to plan around your schedule. You may call the Seton Imaging Center at 410-368-8675. Parking is free.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is really more about how you feel about yourself. Women’s Health Services at St. Agnes Hospital provides the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. Those include face lifts, liposuction, body sculpting, rhinoplasty, and breast augmentations and reductions. Women’s Health Services has 16 surgeons who perform cosmetic surgery on the main campus of St. Agnes Hospital and also at St. Agnes Outpatient Surgery Center in Ellicott City. Contact Physician Finder Service at 866-690-WELL (9355) for more information.

Laser Hair Removal

The Women’s Health Center at St. Agnes now offers hair removal using the LightSheer Diode Laser. This new technology removes unwanted hair faster and more comfortably than other methods, including electrolysis. The procedure is performed by one of our plastic surgeons or dermatologists who have been specially trained in this new technique. For more information or an appointment, please call the Family Health Resource Center at 866-690-WELL (9355).

Pain Management

There are many kinds of physical pain, often with complex and interrelated causes. The good news is that the more common pains women experience are best managed with the help of a multidisciplinary team and lots of patient education. Our team addresses such commonly experienced problems as headache, pelvic pain and postpartum back pain.

Continence

Most types of incontinence can be improved or eliminated without surgery. Biofeedback, relaxation, exercise or other manual techniques, as well as lifestyle changes, are taught by certified practitioners under the direction of physician specialists. The Maryland Bladder and Continence Center is located in the Women’s Health Center under the direction of Dr. George Mamo, a board-certified urologist. Treatments for bladder disorders have advanced significantly. As a result, many bladder disorders that were untreatable just a few years ago are now being cured. The Maryland Bladder and Continence Center offers advances in diagnosis and treatment not offered at most hospitals in the area.

Diabetes Center

At our Diabetes Center we put together a team of experts to help you with every aspect of understanding and managing your disease. An endocrinologist, a nurse educator, a nutritionist, a physical therapist and a mental health professional all work with you. In this way, you can develop a plan that is tailored to your needs, which can include pregnancy consulting or issues related to menopause. Services include one-on-one counseling, the use of appropriate medications and monitors, as well as avoiding complications.

The Heart Center

Cardiovascular disease is now responsible for more deaths among women than all other causes including cancer. That doesn’t have to be the case; you can have a profound influence on your health. Simple changes in lifestyle often can make the difference. We can also provide a lipid management service, in which you meet with dietitians, exercise specialists and cardiologists to design a plan to lower your cholesterol. For women who have experienced more severe problems, we offer cardiac conditioning and education, a complete 8 to 12-week program that covers all aspects of eating, exercising and healthy living.

Cancer Awareness

Nothing is more important than your health. Regular checkups are vital, especially because the key to curing most types of cancer is early detection. St. Agnes Women’s Health Services uses the most current methods to detect cervical, colon, endometrial and ovarian cancers.

Getting Personal

We’re also here for less life-threatening, though more commonly experienced, discomforts such as hemorrhoids or incontinence. They’re easily cured, and we offer several alternatives for both conditions, surgery being the last. Always pay attention to your health. Please contact our Family Health Resource Center and Physician Finder Service at 866-690-WELL (9355).
