Pain Management
The pain management program provides
care for people experiencing ongoing or chronic pain. Common diagnoses
treated by the pain team include:
- Back pain
- Joint pain
- Reflex sympathetic dystrophy
- Neck pain
- Post surgical pain
- Myofascial pain
- Cancer pain
Patients referred to the program are evaluated by a core
team which consists of an anesthesiologist, physiatrist, psychologist,
physical and occupational therapist, nurse and social worker. Consults
are available from a variety of health specialists including
a psychiatrist, substance abuse counselor and dietitian.
Patients are involved in treatment planning
and goal setting. Patient's goals are identified during the intake
assessment, and the team evaluation is completed with these in mind.
The treatment plan is formulated and implemented with the patient’s agreement
and progress conferences are held monthly or more frequently as
necessary to evaluate and revise the initial plan.
