General Surgery Residency Program

Application Requirements

NO PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ALL APPLICATIONS TO THE GENERAL SURGERY RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT SAINT AGNES HOSPITAL WILL BE THROUGH ERAS, THE ELECTRONIC RESIDENCY APPLICATION SERVICE.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION TO OUR PROGRAM WILL CONSIST OF:

  • ERAS Common Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Medical school transcript
  • Dean’s letter
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • USMLE Part 1 and 2 transcript, if taken
  • ECFMG status report

CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION TO OUR PROGRAM:

  • USMLE Part 1
  • USMLE Part 2
  • ECFMG certified by interview date.
  • H-1B1 applicants: must have taken Step 3 exam by December 1, 2008 and have results available by January 15, 2009.

Deadline for receipt of all application materials: Dec. 1, 2008.

GRADUATES OF INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL SCHOOLS

To be eligible to participate in the General Surgery Residency Program at Saint Agnes Hospital, you must possess a current, valid ECFMG (the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certificate.

IMG’s must submit USMLE Parts 1 and 2 and a passing CSA before being eligible for an interview.

VISAS FOR GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING

  • Permanent resident.
  • Employment Authorization from the USCIS.
  • F-1 Student Optional Practical Training (can be used for preliminary track only).
  • Exchange Visitor J-1.
  • H-1B1.
