"Now I am fully engaged in life, rather than watching from the sidelines."
Virginia “Ginie” Holochwost was living a life of debilitating pain from rheumatoid arthritis, which required her to walk with the help of a walker since she was 18 years old. Her disease contributed to weight gain which further exacerbated her symptoms ~ so that by the time she decided to get bariatric surgery in January 2010, Ginie weighed 260 pounds and was in constant pain.
Two years after her bariatric surgery with Dr. David von Rueden and the Saint Agnes bariatric team, Ginie is now a svelte 125 pounds, her disease is under control, and her pain is gone. “My world has changed,” she said.
“I had no idea there was a little person inside of me, waiting to come out,” said Ginie. “Now I am fully engaged in life, rather than watching from the sidelines.”
Ginie is one of the many patients who has discovered that the Saint Agnes’ Bariatric Center of Excellence offers more than just a minimally invasive weight loss procedure. They also offer support where you need it most.
Ginie praised Dr. von Reuden’s team of professionals who were there every step of the way ~ including a nutritionist, physical trainer, benefits administrator, nurse, and psychologist. “I felt like there was a whole team of people by my side, helping me to succeed,” she said.
