Comprehensive Care
Saint Agnes Hospital is proud to help seniors maintain a healthy lifestyle through one of the most comprehensive geriatric care programs in the state.
In the Hospital
Leading the program is Dr. James Richardson, chief of geriatric medicine and head of the palliative medicine service. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia, frailty, and frequent falls, and also provides outpatient consultations to physicians with concerns about their elderly patients.
Palliative Care
A multidisciplinary palliative care team, made up of a physician, priests, chaplains, a specially-trained registered nurse and social workers, provides support for patients with serious, chronic or life-threatening illnesses. The team also supports patients’ family members by educating them about their loved one’s situation and connecting them to appropriate resources.
Co-Attending Unit
A new, 20-bed co-attending unit provides extra medical coverage for senior patients with at least two specialists participating in their care. Seniors often have multiple medical issues at the same time, ranging from neurologic disorders like Parkinson’s disease to psychological disorders like anxiety and dementia. The unit ensures specialists work together when determining patients’ treatment plans.

In the Community
Saint Agnes recognizes seniors’ medical needs differ from those of younger generations. That’s why hospital-based geriatricians and internists work with a network of community-based specialists to provide top-notch, senior-specific care.
Seton Medical Group
With offices throughout the Greater Baltimore and Howard County area, the Seton Medical Group conveniently offers primary care physicians, right in your own community. The group, which accepts Medicare, also includes specialists in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology. In addition, Seton Medical Group patients have access to their medical records, test results and physicians through an online, patient portal, making everything from scheduling appointments to asking follow up questions easier than ever.
Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Facilities
The hospital works with several long-term care and assisted living facilities throughout Baltimore and Howard counties, providing expertise and medical care to residents. Through these partnerships, Saint Agnes Hospital can ensure an around-the-clock support system and seamless transitions to the hospital, if needed.
