Baltimore, Md. – Beginning April 1, Saint Agnes Hospital will move the location of its 60-Minute Heart Check screenings from Columbia, Md. to the Women’s Heart Center in the new Medical Pavilion located on the hospital’s campus. The screenings are changing location to accommodate an increase in volume of appointments for the 60-Minute Heart Check, which gives women a personalized assessment and plan for living a long, heart-healthy life.
The Women’s Heart Center at Saint Agnes, the only program of its kind in Maryland, offers the 60-Minue Heart Check to help women take control of their heart-health for $60 in 60 minutes. Women who participate receive a comprehensive heart assessment and personal consultation to help them understand their heart's condition and risk factors. The screening includes: an electrocardiogram (EKG), biometrics as well as testing for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. The test results are reviewed in a one-on-one discussion with a certified cardiovascular nurse. If results are abnormal the patient will be referred to Dr. Shannon Winakur, medical director of the Women’s Heart Center and cardiologist, for further evaluation and more sophisticated tests.
Who Should Get Screened
All women – beginning at the age of 18, specifically over the age of 35.
Why Get Screened
Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death among women in Baltimore and nationwide. With the majority of risk factors for heart disease being controllable, the screenings are a proactive step for women in identifying both normal and abnormal results.
