Saint Agnes recently announced that Gary N. Geisel, who currently serves on the Saint Agnes Healthcare Board, has been named Chair.

Saint Agnes recently announced that Gary N. Geisel, who currently serves on the Saint Agnes Healthcare Board, has been named Chair. Geisel was Chief Executive of Provident Bank in Baltimore, Maryland until July 2009. Geisel currently serves on the board of M&T Bank as well as Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. He succeeds Barbara Bozzuto, who served as chair from 2008 until the end of June. Paul Chew, who also currently serves on the Saint Agnes Healthcare Board and is a Partner of Brown Advisory and Head of Investments, has been named Vice Chair of the Board.

“Barbara has been a great leader for Saint Agnes and her commitment and quality to patient safety will be her legacy,” said Bonnie Phipps, president and CEO of Saint Agnes Hospital. “I am confident that Gary will continue the tradition of outstanding leadership that Saint Agnes has enjoyed for so many years.”


New members of the 21-person board are the following:

  • Mohannad Jishi, Group Vice President of M&T’s Commercial Deposit and Treasury Management Division

  • Irene Knott, Senior Project Manager for Whiting Turner Constrution

  • Dr. Carole Miller, Director of the Cancer Institute at Saint Agnes Hospital

  • Jack Stansbury, President, Agency Insurance of Maryland, Inc., Former Chair of the Saint Agnes Foundation Board

  • Sister Mary Lou Stubbs, Daughter of Charity and Director of Catholic Charities of Arkansas


All appointees began their three-year terms on July 1.
