ACGME Accreditation

November 2011
The Internal Medicine Residency underwent a site visit by the ACGME in the spring of 2011. This month we received notice of our continued full accreditation for another four years. We are proud of this accomplishment and plan to continue our tradition of excellence with innovative strategies of resident education.

Graduation

Congratulations to all the graduates of the Class of 2011. Their great success was celebrated in style at the Rolling Road Golf Club on June 3rd. We are extremely proud of all our graduates and wish them luck as they move onto to fellowship, hospitalist jobs, primary care positions, and beyond. Special congratulations go to our resident award winners, including “Intern of the Year” Dr. Ali Qamar and “Resident of the Year” Dr. Som Nath Chalise.

ACP Poster Competition



This year, the regional ACP Poster Competition was held at the University of Maryland. Saint Agnes residents presented a total of 22 posters, an impressive number for our residency. Congratulations to all our award winners including Dr. Hom Nath Pant, Dr. Priyaa Viswanathan, Dr. Vuk Sekicki, and Dr. Misha Zilbermint.

International Day


This winter, the Internal Medicine Residents hosted “International Day” for the entire Saint Agnes Community. In this hospital wide event, residents showcased food and culture from their native countries. Residents from India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Ghana, Serbia, and many others brought home cooked food to share. Residents from countries such as Nepal, Kenya, and Moldova (to name a few) also gave presentations on their cultural backgrounds. The event was attended by over 150 hospital employees, who are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Doctor’s Dilemma


We are proud to announce that the Internal Medicine Residents of St. Agnes won the coveted “Doctor’s Dilemma” trophy this year. In this yearly competition hosted by the local ACP, Saint Agnes residents competed against residents from programs across the state of Maryland in a medical knowledge competition in jeopardy style format. The winners will be traveling to the national ACP meeting in San Diego, California to compete against other winners from across the country.
