Maria Durham
My name is Maria Durham and on December 27th 2007 I came into the ER for ABD pain. I was admitted and the next day I became gravely ill. I was placed on 5 North. I went into respiratory distress and was transferred to AICU. I am writing this letter to let you know how grateful I am to have been placed in the care of Dr. Shah and his residents. They saved my life with the help of God guiding them. They were very polite and address my concerns no matter how many times my family or myself asked.

There are some residents that stood out in particular their names are Dr. Hamdallah, Dr. DeCastro, Physicians Assistant Keena Dillard and this gentleman in particular Dr. Tapazoglou. Dr. Tapazoglou helped me settle on 5 North once I was transferred from AICU. I was so afraid that the nurses did not know how to handle me because of my rapid heart rate and I wanted to be transferred to IMC or back to AICU. Throughout the night he came to check on me and reassure me that I was in good hands. Dr. Parandian, I am also very thankful to have been placed in careand he looks out for the best interest of his patient. The staff on 5 North was awesome, there are some nurses that went beyond their duties for me and theirs names are Lauren, Dinah, Michelle and Angie who put a smile on my face whenever there was a frown. Also Nurse Technician Patricia Smith helped me even when I was not her patient. I have been an employee at St. Agnes Hospital since August 2004 and I am very appreciative to work with such great people. The ER staff and Registration really really looked out for me and my family. They took up a collection to help me maintain my personal/financial needs while I was here in the hospital. I spent a total of 32 days here. I am ever so grateful to have been blessed with my family at St. Agnes. I have two kids and they are all that I have. I am a only child and both of my parents are deceased. I know that you probably get many, many letters but I hope that you take the time to read my letter of appreciation.
